I don't want "to teach my grand-mother how to suck eggs" (an English expression), but these kind of scam exists when corresponding with 'women' of many countries, and not just Russia.
Behind the 'woman' identity who exchanges correspondence with a gullible foreigner, often lays a bunch of criminals using just a photo to entice interested parties in sending money.
The scam is very old, and really men should be more aware of it.
If exchanging correspondence with a Russian or other woman, and if she starts asking for monet BE VERY CAREFULL. Ask for proof of identity, passport photocopies, proofs of address, etc...
